Sometimes, playing to a click or a metronome is just to boring. And really, music doesn't have to be completely straight and tidy to feel good. Often, the opposite is true - many old rhythm boxes actually had "humanizer"-settings to add small inconsistencies, to make it feel more natural.
Pure Fruit Jams are not recorded to a click (though sometimes to an acoustic metronome in the room), they're not quanticed and a bit rough around the edges - just like music often is in real life.
